RM and Tablo’s “Stop the Rain” hits No. 1 on U.S. iTunes and may be headed for the Billboard charts ... More in a few days. (Photo by Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for The Recording Academy) RM and Tablo have officially done it. Their collaborative single “Stop the Rain” has climbed all the way to No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in the United States, giving both acts a smash, this time together. The track is now the bestselling at the moment (as of May 3) on what is often considered the most important sales platform in the country, and big things may be coming for the title. “Stop the Rain” May Become a Billboard Hit Given its massive first-day performance, “Stop the Rain” looks likely to debut on several Billboard rankings next week. Actual sales figures aren’t shared by iTunes, but the fact that it’s been living inside the top 10 for a day and is now running the show suggests that it’s a near-lock for the Digital Song Sales chart. It might even hit No. 1. “Stop the Rain” could also make its way onto some genre-specific tallies. Depending on how strong those sales figures are, it might reach the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs or Hot Rap Song tallies. It will almost certainly make it to the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and Rap Digital Song Sales lists. Will BTS Star RM Return to the Hot 100? If interest remains high throughout the next few days, the song might even sneak onto the Hot 100. That would be quite the coup, especially for Tablo, though RM has landed on the tally multiple times in the past, both on his own and, of course, as a member of BTS. Moving From No. 5 to No. 1 The joint single arrived on Friday (May 2) and wasted no time racing up the iTunes list. For a while, it was held back a few spots from the summit, as Rascal Flatts and the Backstreet Boys ruled with their collaborative rendition of “What Hurts the Most,” but now the tides have changed. “Stop the Rain” showcases a much darker, more introspective side of both artists. The track is built around themes of pain, guilt, and low self-worth, which is not commonly spoken about by South Korean stars. The single leans into old-school hip-hop influences, and shows the love that both musicians have for the art form.
